Recommend using poly fill batting/other when using fleece, flannel or Minky? If using, wouldn’t it make quilting more consistent/stable? Poly fill shouldn’t add much weight to quilt-correct?
Lots of great tips and tricks thanks ladies
Thank you so much for the great information.
Thank you for helping me out. I'm getting my quilter this week. Also, thank you for not putting unrelated info in the video like pictures of your wedding or last vacation or talking about a shopping spree. I turn those off immediately. Lol. I enjoyed both of you⁵ and you work well as a team!
Kelly I am like you I have problems following those bag patterns too ! So I just wing it when I make my cross stitch project bags :) I quilt up my material on my cutie frame :) thank you for making this
Wow! Water bottle tip is awesome! I’ve needed this tip so many times! Thank you!!
Another great video! I always learn something new. ❤
I have an HQ Sixteen without Pro-Stitcher. It does have stitch regulation. What speed do you recommend? I have seen 50 and under? Still the same stitch per inch count - 10 to 12? Thank you!
which way is the stretch? Your hand movements....were not picked up by the camera.
Love all the tips! Thank you 😊
Thank you soooo much! I will be book marking this tutorial! I use the zipper system. I think I may be attaching my backing too tight as the ends tend to be wider than the rest of the back as I roll it up. Have you heard of this?
It is very common!! We love to pull things nice and smooth and often over stretch the fabric.
Great video! Lots of good information! Thanks
So much great information. Thank you!!
Great tips! Thank you!
Can you clarify the centering of the quilt top with one side larger than the other? I’m not understanding what you mean by that?
Find the "pattern" center rather than the fold in half center. Pin that spot to the center of your leader. The shorter side, pin as normal. Find the measurement from the center to the edge of the shorter side. Measure that same distance on the leader for the longer side and pin the edge of that side at that point. Ease in the fullness of the longer side as you pin it to the leader. Does that help clarify?
Great video thanks so much. You do such wonderful helpful videos.
How do you get a backing straight when it is 108 inches square? When I bought my frame the leaders weren't centered on the poles so how does a person get the leaders centered on the pole? A lot of the tips don't take into account that a person may not have a large space to do things. Hints for small spaces are a good thing! Excellent info here thanks!!!
Definitely my issue
108" is pretty tricky to deal with especially in a small space. For that, just do your best. I will often use a pole on my machine to lay the folded fabric in 1/2 to get it to lay straight. The biggest thing is to make sure you have straight cut edges for loading. The leaders are velcro so you can remove them and center them properly. Find the center of your pole and mark it. Find the center of your leader and mark it. Match the marks.
@@HandiQuilter One of the problems I have finding the center of the pole is that there are other pieces attached to the end with the winding wheel on it and the ratchets. I never know where to start measuring from and to. I have a time making straight cut edges because of lack of room. I wish there was a fold-able cutting mat to lay on the back table on the long arm. That is a good long place to work on but I haven't found a cutting mat that works yet. Maybe something Handiquilter should try to make.
@@lyndabuchholz1216 Big Matt has cuttings mats that you can have them cut to the size of the back of your longarm! And they are really awesome cutting mats!
@@rebekahnewell5371 I have never heard of them. I will have to check it out thanks.
Maybe discuss thread size & needle size for your demos.
Rather than a pin, I mark my leader with water soluble marker. One less pin to poke me. Also I use safety pin to mark centres. They don't fall out
Great ideas!! Thank you for sharing them.
Thank you. Lots of help.
Great video, thanks❤
I use red snappers, and I love how fast I can get a quilt loaded straight and true. I do make a lot of effort to keep my blocks square and the top square as I assemble the top. I use 2 quilter's laser levels on my quilt wall, one vertical one horizontal to stay true during the quilt top assembly process, it works well for me.
Great ideas!
Great tutorial!
Many great tips. Thank you!

This was very helpful! Thank you!!
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you!
tell me about the table frame that is older that these. do the new roller handle kits fit?
Great job, ladies! As always 😀
Thank you for making this video. You guys are so easy to follow.
Thank you so much. I don’t have the Handi-Quilter long arm but I do have the Tiara III sit down long arm machine, I am just learning how to use it and found these videos so helpful when there is a problem. I was stitching just fine the other day, the tension was perfect when all of a sudden it started stitching very tightly, pulling and bunching the fabric as I stitched. Then I noticed the thread had come off the antenna that sits at the top of the machine where I first place the thread from the spool to thread it . Fixed it problem didn’t correct itself. After a very long time spent threading and rethreading, tension adjustments, checking the bobbin for lint, etc, I gave up. Today I pulled up this video I have watched before--I placed the bobbin in the case wrong! I even had gone as far as getting a new bobbin case, which arrived today, so I laughed at myself when this video talks about getting a new bobbin case! I didn’t need one, but, yes, now I have an extra one which is just fine with me! And I didn’t know what that piece in the bobbin case was called until today! I thought I bent it from when the fabric was pulling so much, as it was raised up some in the case. It seems to be ok though, so i guess I don’t need to worry about it. Thank you for sharing all this good information for the Handi-Quilter as it is helping learn about my machine as well!
Yes, I was really looking forward to seeing the finished blocks to see how they turned out, side by side, so I cd decide if I liked either well enough to try it on one of my quilts. I feel like we got cheated out of seeing the finished product. And I agree that we quilters like to watch the quilting because we learn from that. We don’t care if the video goes longer; this is what we came to see. Yes, watching you guys draw it out ahead of time is helpful. But the quilting process is the most important. Please don’t rush through that part, and don’t cut out parts of the quilting. We need to see how you get around the block. Thank you. 🌷
Thank you for your valuable input. We will discuss that with the filming team so that we can improve in the future!
Awesome inspirational video. I’ll be re-watching this one and hopefully get to my two bins of stuff from grandmas, aunts, great aunts mother and mother-in-law!❤
Don't forget to look between the backing and batting each time you advance, especially if you are using a light colored backing ... it is a pain to end up with a bright or dark thread trapped between.
So true!!!
I think it would be cool to use the red thread on the green side and the green thread on the red side.
That could be interesting!!!
Great ideas. With the straight lines on the first block, to reduce the amount of thread on each line, stitch the line to the first point, stitch in the ditch along to the next point then stitch down. You are then only stitching on eachline once.
Excellent suggestion.
Can't wait to see rest of the blocks in this series. Very helpful for learning design
Please show us the finished blocks.
The finished blocks can be seen in the American Patchwork & Quilting magazine that just came out!!
@@HandiQuilter seriously? I invested 25 minutes of my time watching this video and now I have to buy the magazine to see the ending?
Please give more consideration to the viewers. That rapid jerking of the camera played havoc with my brain . As a QUILTING channel we actually want to see the quilting. Kim and Kristina are a good duo that work so well together so let us see them quilting and the FINISHED results not a view of the back bar. A great idea but the camera angles need more work to give their efforts the emphasis they deserve.
Thank you for your feedback. We are always striving to provide better quality videos so we will definitely work on this. Thank you.
Love love love techniques and ideas of both of the blocks and awesome thread to match the quilt blocks❣️🧵🧵🪡❤️💓💕💖
When Angela Walters was doing jer Midnight Quilt Show she called these two the "turn in early" for the simple version -or- the "up all night" for the complicated version
✌️🙃🫶
Thanks, that was very helpful to us that spend more time away from our machines than we would like.
Love the demo of both machines!
How do you know the circles will end with whole full circles? When I try circles by the time I get to the end there’s only room to make a half circle and it looks terrible.
That is the tricky part. If you want to make sure the circles will fit, you will need to do some marking to make sure the spacing is accurate.
I love the holes, I can hang on my peg board!
Love the one that makes a chicken wire look.
Fabulous!
When you use Microquilter in the top for SID do you use the same thread in the bobbin?
The bobbin thread does not need to be the same weight or type of thread. It best to have a matching color though! For this video, a 60W thread was in the bobbin.
With a larger quilt, do you "float" your quilt or roll it on the belly bar?
We recommend rolling on the bar but there are many quilters that prefer to "float". Whatever works best for you!
